Anna Virginia Jarvis

Anna was born on August 18, 1933, in Bayside, Virginia to the late William T. Mapp and Naomi Brickhouse - Mapp. She departed this life on December 5, 2023 at Virtua Voorhees Hospital. Anna was affectionately known by several nicknames — Dimples, AJ, and Ann. She graduated from Mercer County Community College in 1970 with an Associate of Arts Degree in Early Childhood Education. Anna continued her education at the West Windsor Campus of the Trenton State College with a Bachelor of Science degree in Elementary Education in 1975. Anna was accomplished at teaching and retired from the Trenton Board of Education after serving 26 years, as a paraeducator, teacher’s aide, and teacher throughout the city. She was a fun, loving, lively individual who loved her family and friends. Anna was passionate about traveling the world, shopping, encouraging children, and working with the elderly. She was an active and dedicated Jehovah’s Witness. Since 2012, she was member of the Mount Holly Congregation on Jacksonville Road, in Burlington County. She leaves to mourn several children: Toni Latimer ( Philadelphia, PA), Cynthia Butler ( Edgewater Park, NJ ), Kelvin & Naomi Hugh (Clementon, NJ ), Kevin & Yvonne Hugh (Willingboro, NJ ), Valerie Hugh-Crudup ( Hamilton, NJ ), & Hope Jarvis ( Morrisville, PA). Unfortunately, she was preceded in death by two daughters: Bernadette Hugh and Felicia Jarvis. In addition, she mourned the lost of three grandchildren Markeeta Hugh, Tatiana Jarvis, Steffon Croswell-Hugh. To keep her family together, she adopted and raised two granddaughters: DePree’ Hugh and Tatiana Jarvis. In addition to the aforementioned grandchildren, she leaves to mourn 14 grandchildren: Sabrina Hugh, Robert Dunn, Latoya Taylor, Shakeeta Hugh, Ian Richardson, Danieal Hugh, Sadiyyah Latimer, Alonzo Hugh, Achaia Koennecke, Tyree Hugh, Brittany Butler, Barry Smith, Joshua Hugh, and Jaden Stills, along with 24 surviving great grandchildren, and 6 surviving great-great grandchildren. Anna was one of several brothers and sisters: Living-Moses Mapp; Deceased--Willie Mapp, Lucille Mapp-Jefferson, Rosann Nock, Welton Mapp, James Mapp, Alvis Mapp (Sunny), Mae Edwards, Reginald Mapp, Dorothy Mapp, and Norman Mapp. Like family, she leaves to mourn two special friends: Jeanette Rust and Wanda Prowell. And two bonus Grand-daughters: Jamillah Abdullah and Tukesia Bell.
