Elaine Bangs

Elaine Bangs, affectionately known as “Lanie”, 71, of East Windsor, New Jersey, passed away on August 22, 2024. Born on November 9, 1952, in New Brunswick, she was the cherished daughter of the late Annie Kate and Raymond Jackson, Sr. Elaine graduated from Jamesburg High School and furthered her education by earning an Associates Degree in Business Administration. She dedicated many years of her career to Housing Recreation Community Association (HRCA) in Jamesburg, NJ, Delavale in Trenton, NJ and Docusafe Shredding in Robbinsville, NJ, where she was known for her hardworking nature and commitment to her community. A devout member of Mt. Ararat Missionary Baptist Church, where she held roles of Pastors Aide, Church Secretary, Trustee Board member, Youth Ministry member, Harvest Fest director, manager of gospel music acts and the annual Wildwood trip. Later, she was a devout member of St. Mary’s Baptist Church in Cranbury, NJ, Elaine was deeply involved in various church activities. Her faith and dedication to service were central to her life. Elaine was a loving and giving person, who always put the needs of others ahead of her own. She was described by those who knew her as someone who wore many hats both in and out of church. Her life was a testament to her generous spirit and resilience. Elaine was always well dressed, and her signature look was her blazers…and Kamala Harris doesn’t have anything on her! (She did that). She leaves behind her husband, Ernest “James” Bangs of Hightstown, New Jersey; her son, Evin Bangs of Hightstown, New Jersey and step children Ern Davis of Ocean, New Jersey & Lanette Fitzpatrick of Englishtown, New Jersey; siblings Shirley Frager (Ernest) of Westampton, New Jersey, Jeannette Freer (Michael) of Jamesburg, New Jersey, Raymond Jackson, Jr. (Karen) of Monroe Township, New Jersey and Timothy Jackson (Kimberly) of East Windsor, NJ; mother in law Dorothy Peters of Monroe Township, New Jersey and sister in law Regina Peters-Bryant of Monroe Township, New Jersey. Elaine was also a proud grandmother to Niya Davis of Freehold, New Jersey and Melody Bangs of McKinney, Texas. Additionally, she is survived by her aunts Wilma Johnson of New Brunswick, New Jersey, and Lucille Wilson of Monroe Township, New Jersey, along with numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and many sorrowing friends. Funeral services were held Saturday, August 31, 2024, at The Presbyterian Church of Jamesburg, 175 Gatzmer Avenue, Jamesburg. Rev. Conway Johnson, pastor of Sharon Baptist Church, New Brunswick officiated.
