Ethel Boswell

Funeral services for Ethel Boswell of Hamilton, NJ, were held Friday May 5, 2023 at Anderson Funeral Service, 201 Sandford Street, New Brunswick. Ethel Mae Boswell was born April 9, 1926, in Sharon, Georgia, Taliaferro County, to the late Fred and Johndel (Armstrong) Moore. She was the Matriarch of our family and lived a full 97 years and departed this life on April 23, 2023 in Hamilton, New Jersey. She attended the school system in Taliaferro County. Ethel was united in holy matrimony to Andrew Freeman Boswell in 1943. To this union 12 children were born. Ethel migrated from Georgia to New Jersey for a better life with her children in 1962. She was employed with Fisher Caterers, White Rose Bar and St. Peter’s Hospital, from which she retired. She volunteered at the New Brunswick Thrift Shop. Ethel was affectionately known as “Bae” to her children and known as “Bye” to her many grandchildren, as well as many family members and close friends of the family. She was very well known in the community and truly loved by many. Ethel was a fun and loving person, who wasn’t afraid to speak her mind. Her favorite thing to do was go to thrift shops and garage sales. In her downtime you would find her sitting with her Prince Albert chewing tobacco and drinking Pepsi. Ethel loved to talk to anybody and make sure you were fed, taken care of and in good spirits. She had a special relationship with each of her children and grandchildren. In the event that any of her grandchildren got into trouble, she made sure they were treated fairly and boldly stated, “You bet not mistreat or bother them, and you bet not put your hands on them.” In her earlier years she was an avid gardener that made sure you were put to work. Ethel loved fashion and anyone could find the latest clothes in her closet. She loved going to the Englishtown Flea Market, attending yard sales, trips to the casino and riding the Amtrak train to Georgia. She enjoyed walking around downtown New Brunswick. She knew every street in the Middlesex County area. She was a GPS before they were even invented. Ethel Mae was predeceased by her husband, Andrew F. Boswell; sons, Willie B. Boswell, Michael D. Boswell; brothers, Rev. Henry James Moore, Burney Moore and Alvester Moore; sisters, Elma Moore, Dorothy Ann Moore, Lenora Watkins and Mary Nell Briney. She leaves to cherish her memory, siblings, Willie Moore, Rachel Scott, Mary Ann Arnold, Pearl Moore and Roosevelt Moore; children, Lee Andrew (Pat) Boswell, Dorothy McMillan, Freddie Lee Boswell, Brenda J. Ingram, Mary Ann Boswell, Tommy Lee (Peggy) Boswell, Gregory (Mable) Boswell, Andre (Brenda Jean) Boswell, Carol Ann Boswell and Atdrener Moore; 41 grands; 27 great grands; 3 great great grands and a host of nieces, Nephews, Cousins and Friends. She will be missed by All!!
