Ausborne "Butch" Wong

Ausborne (Butch) Wong, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and brother, passed away on May 6, 2023, at the tender age of 80. Born on March 7, 1943 in Newark, NJ to Robert Pitts and Mabel Wong, he was educated in the Newark school system, and joined the Marines thereafter. Butch was a dedicated family man, that was preceded in death by both his parents and 10 of 12 of his siblings survived by his brother Robert Pitts of Piscataway, NJ, and sister Phyllis Wong of Tampa, Florida. By profession Butch was a truck driver Owner-Operator that later worked with Lowenstein trucking and finally driving for Grocery Haulers supporting supermarket chain Pathmark before his retirement. Survived by his beloved wife Rosemary Wong of 54 years, their sons, Terrence and Erik Wong, and cherished grandchildren Brian Wong, Terrence Tyler Wong, Isaiah Wong, Elijah Wong(Lachelle Wong), Erika Wong, Justin Jarmon, Grace Burgher as well as a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Butch had a love for fishing and would travel down to Belmar in a boat he owned on the weekends with anybody else who wanted to go. Often taking his nephews, nieces, cousins and kids from the neighborhood. And would never stop trying to catch the big fish that got away. On any day, you could see Butch walking at the nearby track, catching a good game of basketball or calling everyone to let them know his grandkids accomplishments, most recently his grandson Isaiah’s playing for the Miami Hurricanes in the NCAA Final Four. Always available to be present for any of his grandchildren's hockey, football, basketball, swimming, ballet and field hockey practices, games and team travels, Butch played a huge role in contributing to whatever interests there were for his family at the time. Always one to help with assisting his neighbors needs in bringing in their kids, grabbing their morning papers he was known as a gentle soul, a strong man of very few words that stood up for those when it mattered, always soft spoken, greeted all with a smile and specialized in thoughtful deeds by helping others. His heart was overflowing with goodness, and his sweet spirit will live in the hearts and memories of everyone that knew and loved him. His legacy will continue to live on through the many lives he touched and the memories he leaves behind. Funeral services were held Tuesday, May 16, 2023 at Anderson Funeral Service, 201 Sandford Street, New Brunswick.
