Beverly Leigh Gutridge

Beverly Leigh Hall Gutridge was born the second of four children to Elsie Mozella Staten Hall and Fisher Franklin Hall on June 9, 1941, in Manhattan, New York. Beverly was ushered into God’s arms on February 21, 2022 at Riverview Medical Center, Red Bank, New Jersey. Beverly grew up in Harlem, New York and when she was a teenager the family moved from New York to Cliffwood, New Jersey. She graduated from Matawan High School. Beverly was joined in Holy Matrimony to Joseph Lamar Gutridge Sr. on January 17, 1961, until the time of her passing. They had six loving children from this union Joseph Lamar, Beverly Leigh (deceased), Dwayne Joseph, Eric Marvin, Audra Gloria Lizet and Alvin Mark. When we parted company, we would say “I love you mom and she would loving respond by saying I love you “more”. Beverly was employed by Sunshine Biscuits Inc., Hercules Inc. and E.I. DuPont, Parlin, New Jersey which she retired after 18 years of service in January 1998. Beverly was introduced to the Lord when she attended church with her parents at Second Baptist Church in Matawan. In 1984, she rededicated her life to the Lord and joined the former Second Baptist Church in Perth Amboy, New Jersey under the leadership of Bishop Donald Hilliard, Jr, now the Cathedral International where she faithfully served as a Deaconess for many years. Beverly retired so she could take care and love on her grandchildren. She loved her family and enjoyed spending time with those she loved and those who loved her back. She cherished the bond with her sister Viola “Sister Gurl” (they were only 11 months apart). They raised their families together, always staying close to each other. She wasn’t one to hold her tongue and always let you know exactly how she felt, and it often showed on her face. Shopping was something she loved to do to the point that the UPS driver knew her by name and address well. LOL!! She will be missed dearly by all who loved her. She was predeceased in death by her parents Elsie and Fisher Hall, and a daughter with her namesake Beverly Leigh Gutridge and her beloved devoted sister Viola “Sissy” Mitter, brother-in-law Roland “Punkin” Mitter, nephews Kevin “Kevey” Mitter, Anthony “Tony” Smith Sr., Walter “TJ” Hicks III, Steven Mitter and Perry “PJ” Wright, nieces Cetavia “Tay” Mitter and Kiara Mitter and best friend Beverly Jackson. Beverly leaves to continue her loving legacy and cherish her many fond memories her husband of 61 years Joseph L. Gutridge Sr., four sons, Joseph Gutridge Jr, Dwayne Gutridge Sr., Eric Gutridge Sr., Alvin “My Baby” Gutridge Sr. and a loving daughter Audra Gutridge. Two brothers Franklin and Fisher “Rick” Hall; 14 grandchildren: her five loving guardians, Tiera “Babygirl”(Justin), Dwayne Jr. “DJ”, Timothy “Tim Tim”, Terence, Alvin Jr.“AJ” and Tequya, Tiffany, Erika, Tranitta, Jamiara, Elise, Sha’Niya, Eric Jr., and Leah; 19 great-grandchildren Allure, Ondia, Elijah, Tyjir, Leroy Jr., Rajon, Anissa, Azealiah, Samaya, Faith, Harmoni, Elijah “Lijh”, Amir, Ariah “Little Beverly”, Naomi, Kaiden “Chunk Chunk”, Leila, Amina, and Layla; four grands in love Younger, Alecia, Chriseana, and Darielle, three great-grands in love Taraji, Heaven and Luke; two sisters in law and love Ora Lee Brooks and Mary Hayes; One God daughter Akeia Mitter; nieces “daughters in love” Michelle “Shell”, Donna “Donn”, Tina “Teen”, Kim “Kimmy”, Janice “Jan” and Stephanie “Felicia”, four devoted life-long friends Patricia Wathington, Marietta Jones, Shirley Lee and Susan Hill; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
