Carrie L Terrell of Somerset, NJ. died July 5, 2026. Services were held July 18, 2026, at old Ship of Zion, Englishtown, NJ. 8:00 - 9 AM view, with service to follow. Carrie L. Robinson Terrell was born to Lular and Dennis Walker on April 24, 1934, in Rutherford, Alabama. It was Carrie's and her 4 siblings' misfortune that their parents died nine days apart in just a short nine years later. As a result, they were blessed with a paternal grandmother who stepped up and reared the children. Carrie attended the Russell County Training School. She later gave birth to a daughter and subsequently relocated to New Jersey (NJ). Upon arrival in NJ she resided with her older sister, Lula in a small shanty-type community called "Red Ball Inn" in Monmouth County that housed farm workers who had migrated from the south. She later met and married Willie Robinson Jr. of Englishtown. They shortly after relocated to New Brunswick, N.J. Later during their time in New Brunswick a son was born. Carrie never shied away from nor took lightly her responsibilities as a mother, wife, provider, Christian and friend. As confirmation to her strong employment ethics throughout the years, she was employed by esteemed companies such as: Brosky's (South River), AR Winarick (New Brunswick), Permacel (a Johnson & Johnson affiliate in North Brunswick, Peter J. Schweitzer (Spotswood) and Anheuser Busch (Old Bridge) from which she retired in 1998. Also retired from the AB Bakery Drivers & Salesmen Local 194. She later met and married Earnest H. Terrell and resided in Old Bridge and ultimately Somerset, N J. This married bored two children. With her desire to continue to excel, she attended the New Brunswick High School Adult Education class and learned to excel beautifully in sewing and tailoring which certainly contributed to her insatiable love and desire for fashion and clothing and let us not forget HATS. As she and her husband would say, "lookin' sharp!" In following her Christian heart, she attended and graduated from the Central Bible Institute in Piscataway thereby earning the school's Bachelor's Degree in Christian Ministry in 1998. Also, she received an award for Dedication & Service from the Seacoast Missionary Baptist Association, Inc. and from Anheuser Busch at retirement for 13 years of excellent service. Most importantly, Carrie has been serving her Lord, Savior and Master for most of her life, with serving for more than 65 years at the Old Ship of Zion Missionary Baptist Church. She served in numerous capacities: Senior Choir for many years, Pastor's Aide Ministry, Missionary Board, mentor to many and until time of departure served with great honor as one of the Mothers of the church as appointed by her Pastor. She attended Sunday service up the one month before her passing. She really enjoyed the attention from the Deacons. Carrie enjoyed spending time with her family and loved one. Most especially her grandchildren, her incredibly loving & loyal Godson and her niece Renia who would always come to the rescue if she needed a laugh. Her compassion and love had no bounds and always showed with her warm & loving smile (with or without teeth). She'd appreciate that. But let us not forget, if you needed to be told off or scolded, she did not hesitate to render that — sometimes punishment. In her latter days she was always saying, "Come in here and give me a kiss." Carrie's siblings, husband and daughter, Kimberly preceded her in death. She is survived by a daughter, Julia M. Walker (Potts) of Somerset, and two sons: Raymond T. Robinson of Somerset and Ernest Terrell (Dyna) of Somerset; two grandchildren, Caira and Mason of Plainfield, NJ, a Godson Curtis Booker (Lisa) of Perth Amboy
