Cora Elizabeth Medley

Our dear mother, Cora Elizabeth (Moore) Medley, transitioned to eternal rest Tuesday, September 13, 2022, at the age of 83. She was born to the late Albert and Pothinea Moore on August 2, 1939, in Stanley County, North Carolina. Cora was a devoted and caring mom for her children and others as well. She had a giving heart and was always willing to lend a helping hand. Cora received her education in the Stanley County, NC public schools' system where she graduated in 1959 with honors from West Badin High School. She furthered her education at Saint Augustine University, where she graduated Summa Cum Laude in 1963 with a Bachelor of Science Degree. After graduation, she moved to Brooklyn, NY in 1963 where she began work as an executive secretary at the Brooklyn VA Medical Center. Shortly after, Cora married the love of her life, Darlin “Eddie” Medley, on April 3, 1965. After marriage they settled into East Orange, New Jersey. Cora commuted from New Jersey to New York before being employed at Sigma Business College in NJ. Cora and Darlin relocated to Metuchen, NJ in 1973 where she focused her attention on being a devoted mother and wife, before she began her employment at Bishop George Ahr High School (now St. Thomas Aquinas High School) in 1993, where she retired in 2020. In addition to being a great mother and devoted wife, Cora had a remarkable green thumb. She enjoyed tending to her plants and flowers with care and pride. Cora’s husband, Darlin Medley; her parents, Albert T. Moore and Pothinea Moore and her sister, Eleanor Lawson preceded her in death. She leaves to cherish her precious memory, her sons, Corey Medley and Sean Medley of Metuchen, NJ; her daughters, Darlena (Vincent) Medley Anderson, Bound Brook, NJ and Latoya Medley of Metuchen, NJ; granddaughter, Kaya Kaminsky of Metuchen, NJ; nieces raised as daughters, Cynthia Cunningham of Wilmington, NC, Wilma Medley of Metuchen, NJ and Latrice Campbell of Albemarle, NC; her godsons, Larry Pittman, NJ and William Medley Jr., East Brunswick, NJ; her goddaughter, Almeshia Medley, Morristown, NJ; sister/cousin, Patsy (William) Medley Sr. of Plainfield, NJ; her brother in-laws, John (Minnie) Medley of Badin, NC, Wilbur Medley of Wadesboro, NC and Ronnie Medley of Badin, NC; her sister in-laws, Julia Moore of Badin, NC, Margreta Medley of Woodbridge, VA, Beverly (Richard) Spencer of Hampton, VA, Carolyn Dixon Agyapong of Tallahassee, FL, Georgette (Mike) Edgerton of Albemarle, NC; a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
