Cyril Augustus Richards Jr.

Cyril Augustus Richards, Jr. was called to his heavenly home to be with the Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Tuesday, April 11, 2023. He was surrounded by those dearest to him during his peaceful transition. Born on November 6, 1937 in Bocas del Toro, Panama, to the late Floretta Dixon Richards and Cyril Augustus Richards, Sr., Cyril Jr. (affectionately known as Junior), was the ninth of twelve children. He migrated to the United States in the early sixties and settled in Brooklyn, New York. Soon after, he was drafted into the military and officially served in the Army from 1961 to 1963. He was a true serviceman, who also served in the Reserves, where he received an honorable discharge from the United States military on August 31, 1967. After his discharge, he worked as the head cook at NYU Medical Center for 37 years until he retired. Cyril lived a blessed life, filled with joy, happiness and an abundance of love. He was a devoted family man who led with quiet strength. He and the love of his life of 58 years, Norma, created a beautiful family bonded by faith. Their three beloved children, six grandchildren and two great grandchildren are the treasures of their union. Cyril and Norma married on November 28, 1964 and have been inseparable ever since. Their pure heart and soul connection extends beyond the boundaries of the earth and time. Cyril was a committed church member at Tabernacle of Praise in Brooklyn, New York for over 20 years. He enjoyed praising and worshiping with friends and family, and was always willing to serve in any capacity. Cyril had a calm demeanor, yet a strong zest for life. He lived for all familial moments, ensuring that indelible memories were created for posterity. Cyril is survived by his loving wife, Norma, sons Cyril Richards, III and Vincent Richards, daughters-in-law Barbara and Sherrie, respectively, daughter Tina Parker and son-in-law Vincent Parker, grandchildren Tiana, Victoria, King, Alyssa, Lana, Lea-Jade, granddaughter-in-law Jurysia, great grandchildren King, Jr. and Kristian, siblings, Alpha, Eduardo and Alberto and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Cyril’s impact on this world will forever remain in our memories and will live on in his family and friends. Funeral services were held Thursday, April 20, 2023 at First Baptist Church of Lincoln Gardens, 771 Somerset Street, Franklin Township. Minister Joan Marshall will officiated.
