Edward Lamont Jackson

Edward Lamont Jackson was born August 6, 1957 in New Brunswick, NJ. After braving a lifetime battle with Sickle Cell Anemia, Edward went on to be with Our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on the morning of April 18, 2014. Born the seventh child of Major and Bessie Jackson, Edward was adored by all of his nine siblings. Early on as a young man, Edward displayed great talent in the fields of comedy, acting, and modeling. Through these natural gifts he would go on to perform on many stages throughout the metropolitan area earning him such awards as Mr. Shear Artistry. An avid worker, Edward excelled in sales in both the Retail and Automotive Industries. He groomed his sales expertise at Abraham and Strauss, Bloomingdales, and Barneys of New York. He became so proficient at his craft (The Gift Of Gab) that he landed a position as a stockbroker on Wall Street. However, comedy was his passion and on any given night Edward could be found performing at the top comedy clubs in the Village or Midtown, New York. Edward was very proud that his daughter inherited his comedic gene and spent endless time engaging in her pursuit of comedy. Fondly known as "Cartwright” by his Forte Green community, Edward was a longtime resident of Brooklyn NY. A proud New Yorker, Edward touched many lives during his fifty-seven years of life. He loved children and over the years, became an unofficial Godfather to just about anyone that asked and to a few who didn’t. Coaching basketball teams for very young and older kids was one of his many loves. If you could fit in the car Edward would give you a ride; he would talk to everyone even if you did not talk back. Recently, he began working with Students First New York and Christine Curtis, a community organizer, said, “Being a friend to Edward was the easiest thing I ever had to do.” He embraced his role as a father and became dedicated to the school’s and curriculums that Chase was attending, as a result Chase became a high achiever amongst his peers. Edward was pre-deceased by his mother Bessie Jackson, siblings Jacqueline, Elizabeth, Major Allen III, and Benjamin Jackson. He is survived by his father, Major Jackson, longtime companion Cassaundra Zeigler (Brooklyn, NY), two brothers: Arthur (wife Deborah) Jackson, and Eric Jackson, three sisters: Yvonne Jackson-Ralph, Irma Jackson, and Charrisse Jackson-Jordan (husband Edward) Two God-sons: Yanick Howell and Shawn Skeete, and many nieces and nephews. Edward’s greatest love of all and proudest accomplishments were his daughter Katrina Nicole Braxton and his son Charles Major Jackson (Chase). Edward’s blood will always continue to flow in them just as their love for him will always live in their hearts.
