Elizabeth Dowling

Elizabeth Dowling, 98, of Trenton, NJ died January 9, 2023. Funeral Services were held Thursday, January 19, 2023, at New Holy Cross Church, 500 East State Street, Trenton. Bishop Willie J. Jones will officiate under the direction of Anderson Funeral Service, Trenton. Elizabeth Dowling was born on April 13, 1924 in Burlington, New Jersey to the late Lewis Jones and Bessie Robbins Jones. She made her transition peacefully on January 9, 2023 surrounded by family, at the age of 98. She lived in Trenton, New Jersey for over 75 years and was educated in the Trenton Public School System. She retired from Circle F Industries after many years of service. Mother Dowling as she was known, was raised in the church. She loved being around the people of God. As a small child she attended the First Born Church of the Living God with her parents at the corner of Tyrell Avenue and Assumpink Street in East Trenton. In 1947 the First Born Church of the Living God merged with the Church of Christ Written in Heaven under the leadership of the late Elder Joseph B. Walker After the passing of Bishop Walker, Mother Dowling continued on as a member of the New Holy Cross Church of Christ Written In Heaven. She was a member of the Mother's Board. She was a Gold Star Mother. Mother Dowling was a humble woman, who gained her strength from her belief in God. In times of trial in her life, she held to Jesus and stood as a pillar of faith for her family. She was her family's Proverbs 31-Virtuous Woman of God. She will truly be missed, but within us she left her faith and Love in Jesus that will sustain us until we meet agin. Her fvorite song was "I Won't Complain." Predeceased by her husband Willie Dowling Sr; 3 sons: Herbert Johnson, Willie Dowling Jr, Richard A. Dowling, 1 daughter Bessie Frances Woodard. She leaves to cherish her memory 3 sons; Reginald Dowling, Daniel Dowling (Cynthia) of Ewing, Joseph Dowling (Sharon) of Dover, DE; 2 daughters: Juanita Wilson (Jerome) of Palmetta, FL, Bernice McCallister (Larry) of Ewing, 35 grandchildren, 8 great great grandchildren, 7 great great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and her Holy Cross family.
