He was born on February 10, 1977, in Trenton, New Jersey to the late Alice Finney and Rufus Ricks. Eric had a passion for comedy and was known as the class clown throughout his school years. He attended Lawrence High School until 11th grade, when he was involved in an automobile accident that left him with some neurological trauma. Despite this setback, Eric remained determined to pursue his dreams. Eric was a man of many talents. He could often be found cutting hair, doing maintenance work or driving a forklift. He had a big heart and always sought to help others. Those who knew Eric loved him dearly. He was known for being sharply dressed, often sporting a fresh haircut, sunglasses, a button-down shirt, and perfectly creased khakis. Eric cherished spending time with his family, especially his daughter, who was the light of his life. He maintained close relationships with his siblings, checking in on them daily and feeling concerned if he didn't hear from them. Ironically, he was affectionately nicknamed "Ghost" by his family, as he had a habit of disappearing for periods before reappearing unexpectedly. Eric enjoyed dancing to club music and loved cooking jerk chicken with friends. Traveling brought him joy, and he created cherished memories in places like New York City, Myrtle Beach, and Virginia. Eric was also an avid bike enthusiast and could often be seen riding around town. Eric is survived by his wife, Kimberly Finney; his daughter, Emery Finney; his sister Elizabeth Willingham; and his brothers, Elijah Finney (Megan Finney) and Alton Finney (Katlyn Downs). He is preceded in death by the late Kirk Finney and Philip Finney (Gail Finney), Walter Finney (Michelle Finney), Scott Finney (Pam Finney), Marc Short (Deborah Short), Ona Jackson, and additional loving aunts and uncles. His nieces, Khloe and Kolleen Willingham; nephews, Isiaah, Elijah and Jayden Finney. Special godmothers include the late Anna Diggs and Deborah Diggs, and god sister Nikol Carey. A host of cousins friends, and other relatives also mourn his passing. All his loved ones will undoubtedly miss Eric.
