Errol Benford Bennett

Errol Benford Bennett was born in Kingston, Jamaica W.I. to George Bennett and Verona Curtis, both of whom preceded him in death. He migrated to the United States in the early 1970s and was married to Jennifer. He had two children, Jeniele and Paul. Errol worked as a self-employed medallion taxi driver for the Taxi and Limousine Commission (Yellow Cab) in New York City for over 30 years. He leaves behind seven siblings, Joan, Patrick, Sharon, Zinnia (Chubby), Patrice, Cleveland (Tony) whose death preceded his in 2023, Veronica (Nicole) and Oswald (Junior) and his stepfather, Joshua Campbell (Joshi). He leaves behind his sisters-in-law, Pansy and Marilyn and brother-in-law, Dalton. In addition to his daughter and son, he leaves behind his son-in-law, Ricardo; daughter-in-law, Danielle; two grandchildren, Samaya and Josiah; his nieces, nephews, cousins, and beloved friends in New York, New Jersey, Florida, and Jamaica. Errol was a man who enjoyed life through frequent traveling to his homeland Jamaica, which was his passion and joy. He enjoyed watching sports, especially soccer, wrestling, basketball and track and field. He also was an avid reader of various Jamaican publications such as The Gleaner and The Star and enjoyed playing games such as Chinese checkers, Ludi, and Dominoes Despite his slim stature, he was a slow and passionate eater. He enjoyed good old-fashioned Jamaican cuisine and his favorite breakfast entree at IHOP: Steak tips and eggs. In the early 2000s , he and his family moved to New Jersey from Brooklyn, NY for the latter portion of his life. His signature phrase ’Wh’appen’ means he asks what’s happening to everyone he encounters.
