Jenia Mae Johnson

Jenia Mae Johnson was born on June 27, 1952, in Ozark, Alabama to the late Ruby Cobweb and Lawrence Franklin. She was their only child. Jenia came to New Brunswick, NJ when she was 8 years old. She resided there for the majority of her adult life. She married Harry Johnson on August 8, 1970. She was a loving mother to her three daughters Ruby, Erica, and Ursula. She sometimes worked two jobs just to make ends meet. She always wanted a better life for her daughters, so she attended Middlesex County College in pursuit of a nursing degree. She worked in the healthcare field for many years as a certified nursing aide. Jenia was known as a no-nonsense, outspoken, dedicated, reliable, private person. And if you spent any amount of time with her, you would have been blessed by her heavenly voice. If she wasn’t singing, she was humming or whistling. In good times and in bad there was always a comforting melody. She constantly put the needs and wants of her children before her own. As a result, she made herself available to care for her grandchildren while her daughters worked. In her later years, she loved being surrounded by her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. During the holidays, she enjoyed cooking holiday feasts and baking everyone’s favorite desserts. Jenia departed this life on Tuesday, September 22, 2020.
