Deacon John Sadler Jr.

Deacon John Sadler, Jr. the youngest child of John and Monverdie Sadler's eight children was born April 12, 1934 in New Brunswick, NJ . On July 30, 2018 God saw the road was getting rough and the hills were too hard to climb, so he gently closed his eyes and whispered "Peace Be Thine." At an early age of eight, John joined the Ebenezer Baptist Church under the leadership of the late, Rev. C.H. Shelton. During his youth he served in the church in various capacities, secretary of Church Sunday School, President of the Willing Heart Children's Choir and member of the Ebenezer Debating Team under the leadership of the late, Dr. Eric B. Chandler. During his adult years John joined the Senior Usher Board and served as Vice President for several years. In 1973 he was ordained as deacon and later became Chairman of the Board for 18 years. He was an active member of the Pastor's Aid Society, Ebenezer Male Chorus and Hostess Club. John attended the public schools o New Brunswick. He served 3 years in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict. He was employed by the Union Carbide Plastics Company in Bound Brook, NJ for 39 years, where he worked as a Production Supervisor for the last 20 years before retirement. John was one of the founders and served as President of the Eldorado Social Club Inc. of New Brunswick. John's Masonic affiliations were many. He was a member of the Most Worship King Solomon Grand Lodge Ancient Free and Accepted Masons in Newark, NJ, served 10 years as Grand Lodge Secretary and 12 years as Grand Patron of Martha Grand Chapter. In 1983 John was elevated to the 33rd, last Degree of Masonry. He served 3 years as Grand Master of the M.W. King Solomon Grand Lodge A.F. & A.M., Past Potentate of Oasis Temple No. 11, Most Emenet Grand High Priest of Moab Royal Arch Chapter, member and 1st Vice President of the Inter-Fraternal Masonic Relations Commission of New Jersey. This commission was made up Prince Hall, Ancient Free and Accepted Masons in the state of New Jersey.
