Jonathan Ayton

Jonathan A Ayton (John)was born February 22, 1947 in Hope District Mocha, Clarendon Jamaica to Boswell Ayton and Kezia Newell. Jonathan was the 14th child of 16 Children. Jonathan married the love of his life Beryl Anderson March 1970. Jonathan had two sons Washburn Ayton and Jonathan Ayton Jr (deceased). They lived in Jamaica and the Bahamas before migrating to America. Jonathan was a hard working man and entrepreneur. He graduated seminary school and became a Reverend, he then went on to lead a church in Plainfield NJ for many years. John was hired as manger at JB Ross bedding and with timing, perseverance and hard work, he was able to start one of the first Jamaican restaurants in Franklin Township with his wife Beryl. This was a family restaurant were many family members would come and help cook or work the register. He owned the restaurant for more than 25 years before retiring. He was a pillar of the community and everyone loved their food especially the the Stew chicken, beef patties and curry goat were all faves of the town. In the 76 years that John lived, he was so many things to so many people. He was a son, a brother, a hero, a husband, a dad, a grandad, an uncle and a friend. John truly had a heart of gold, always looking out for others. Jonathan is survived by his four siblings Eleta Ayton-Cooke, Linval (Busha) Ayton, Llewellyn (Lenny) Ayton Sr, Ettle Mae Ayton. One son Washburn Ayton. 5 grandchildren Quaerah Ayton Shields, Shamal Ayton, Shaheed Ayton, Janeen Ayton, Zyhirah Ayton. Also a lot of cousins, nieces and nephews He was a very special person and he will be missed tremendously. May God hold your hand in heaven as you have held ours in life.
