Lois Mensah

Lois Mensah was born February 7, 1958 to the late Richard Ravenell and Theresa “Martha” Taylor. She was the oldest daughter of nine children. Born and raised in North Philadelphia, PA, Lois was educated in the public school system. Lois gave her life to the Lord at a young age and loved singing in the choir. One of her most notable phrases was "If it's the Lord's will", which reminded us that God is always in control. Lois was extremely close to her mother and family. She loved decorating her home for every occasion, especially holidays. She was an amazing cook and gardener. Lois got her joy from being surrounded by her loving husband, children, grandchildren and family. She enjoyed dancing, going to parties with her sisters and attending family gatherings. While at work one evening at the hotel parking garage, a gentleman dressed in a nice suit pulled up. He asked her a simple question, “Where is the elevator?” In her true form she sassily replied to him, “You see the steps that way” and pointed. It was “forever” from that moment! He gave her his number and they began their courtship over the phone. Quickly falling in love, the two became inseparable. Mike's (MacDonald's) joining the US Army took them to Europe for his ﬁrst tour of duty where he refused to leave his new wife and children. Before Thanksgiving of that year, Mike and Lois, along with their ﬁve children, moved and started their new life in Stuttgart, Germany. The two enjoyed travelling, including going on cruises, to England to visit Buckingham Palace and Windsor Castle and many other beautiful places. Lois and Mike enjoyed their life together and raised their family. The military was an important part of both of their lives. She worked for the local Military market and became a skillful forklift driver. Together they met and touched countless lives. Lois always made a friend, no matter where she was or with whom she was. She loved meeting and encouraging new people. Lois and Mike became grandparents early and jumped right into the role. Lois kept her grandson during the day and Mike during the evenings so that their daughter, Tamika, could complete school and work. Lois loved being a grandmother. She became a grandmother of nineteen over the years. Mike and Lois returned to the US and settled in Trenton, NJ, a few years and later relocated to Ewing, NJ. Lois was adored by Mike and he did many things to enrich her life. Mike gave her more of what she loved by designing and building her a beautiful garden in front of their home. He made sure he planted her favorite ﬂowers—roses--which she would go out and pick one every day to smell! He then renovated her kitchen to make it more spacious for all her gatherings and amazing dinners. Anyone that knows this love story, knows that these two made it work and had the love and respect it took to make a relationship last for almost 30 years. They remained solid and strong during the lean and plenty times of life. Mike still called Lois beautiful until the day she went home to be with the Lord and her eyes would still light up whenever he walked in the room. Love like this lives on forever past inﬁnity!
