Rosa M Fleming

Rosa M. Fleming was born on August 17, 1928 in Madison, Georgia to the late Frank and Willie Mae Booker. She was the eldest of seven children. On Monday, April 11, 2022 she entered into eternal rest. Rosa, affectionately known as “Lillie Mae” attended Bethlehem Public Schools in Georgia. She was raised in a Christian home and joined the Bethlehem Baptist Church at an early age. Rosa relocated to New Jersey where she began her work career with Browsky Blouse Company. She later retired from Sunshine Biscuits after 31 years. After moving to New Brunswick, Rosa became a faithful member of the Tabernacle Baptist Church. She served on the Missionary Board, Gospel Chorus and Mass Choir. Rosa attended Sunday School every Sunday and was its secretary for many years. Rosa loved the Lord and it was evidenced in her outward expressions of praise and worship. Rosa enjoyed the simple things in life such as cooking and gardening, (which always yielded the biggest and best tomatoes and collards.) She loved hosting cookouts and dinners for family and friends. Rosa had a loving spirit. It was ” love at first sight” with her and because of this she had friends from all walks of life. Rosa loved traveling. She was pleased to talk with you about her visits to places like Mexico, Bermuda, San Francisco and Hawaii. Rosa was always stylish and fashionable. She would be dressed to a “T'' if only to sit on her porch.She was an independent woman. She drove her car well into her 80’s. When she gave up her keys, she would often walk to her destination. In addition to her parents, Rosa was predeceased by daughter Velma, husband James Fleming, and brother Frank Booker Jr. Left to cherish her memory are brothers Allen Booker, Madison Ga; Eddie Booker of Ga., sisters Pearl Hunt of Fayetteville, North Carolina; Maggie Reid and Margaret Booker of New Brunswick, NJ.; grandson Brian James Sr. Ga; stepdaughter Andrea Smith; NJ; great- grandchildren Brian James Jr.,Tiairah James, Tenicia James; great- great grandchildren Yamari James, Tiayre James, Naasir James, Ahmir James of Ga. and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
