Rosie Louise Jones

Rosie Louise Smith Jones was born October 13, 1928 in Atoka, Tennessee, daughter of the late Jimmy Smith & Mattie Hannah Short. Rosie attended the Atoka Public School System. On January 23, 1946, she was united in Holy Matrimony to the love of her life, Pink Jones. Their union was blessed with nine loving children. They soon left Tennessee, moving to Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Our dad served in the Army. In 1952, another move was made, coming to New Jersey, where dad was stationed at Camp Kilmer, which was formerly United States Army Camp, originally located in Piscataway Township. Mother Rosie professed her Faith in Jesus Christ, joined the church and she served under the leadership of Elder George & Mother Sherrod of Emmanuel True Temple of Somerset, New Jersey. “I Thank You God”! Mother introduced her children to “Jesus Christ”. Rosie enjoyed her TV Sports, Golf was one of her favorites, especially when Tiger Woods was playing. Tennis was great, Serena & Venus Williams, Coco Gauff and Frances Tiafoe. If they played tennis all day, mama would sit there and watch. In baseball, it’s World Series times, it didn’t matter what teams were playing, mama just watched the game. Speaking of TV, CNN and MSNBC were her channels. Mom had a passion for cooking. Many days our dad would come in the house and great cooking smells were going on. Mom was sauteing garlic and onions, dad just knew she was cooking a steak surprise. Steak came later, of course she could cook anything. We all loved her chicken/turkey stuffing, sweet potatoe pie, collard greens and cabbage, etc. we never went without good meals. Mom was employed by New Jersey Nursing Association, Somerset Street, New Brunswick, NJ. She was a mother to her children and wife to her husband, Blessed. Mother Rosie passed away Sunday, October 23, 2022, at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital, New Brunswick, NJ. She leaves to cherish her memory, eight children; Martha Jean Pittman, Mary Julia (Milton) Lockhart, Sherry White, Barbara Gaines, Tommy Lee Jones, Kevin Jones, Keith (Donna) Jones and Donna Marie Jones; 20 Grandchildren; 23 Great Grandchildren; 10 Great, Great Grandchildren and One Great, Great, Great Grandchild. Also a loving niece, Mattie Hutson of Milwaukee, Wisconsin a precious cousin/sister Bernice Shaw, of Atoka, Tennessee; and a host of other dear relatives and friends Mother is sleeping now!
