Sarah Jean Hutton

Sarah Jean Hutton, was born Sarah Jean Ballard to the late Rev. Isaac and Margaret Ballard on April 16, 1940 in Bethune, SC. She departed this life on Saturday, April 26, 2014 at the Capital Health Medical Center, Hopewell, NJ. Sarah was the second child of ten children. Sarah attended the Trenton, NJ public school system and graduated from Trenton Central High School. Sarah met Charles Hutton, Sr., in Trenton, NJ and they were wed in 1961. From this union, three children, were born, Charles, Jr., Michelle and Mark. Of these three children, Sarah and Charles, Sr. were blessed with five beautiful grandchildren. She was employed by the state of New Jersey as a supervisor of the Open Competitive Unit at the Department of Personnel, where she retired after 35 years of service. A loyal and dedicated member of the St. John’s Baptist Church, in Ewing, NJ, she served on a number of committees, which included the Sr. Usher Board, Scholarship Committee, Unity Day Committee, Travel Committee, Planning and Design Committee and the Celebration Committee. She also served as a Trustee Aide and was the Chairperson of the Breakfast Committee for the Concerned Pastors of Trenton and Vicinity. Sarah and her husband Charles resided in Ewing Township for over 40 years, where she served as a Township Committee Woman. Sarah enjoyed bowling and was a member of the D & J Bowling League for many years. She was a member of the DMJs Social Club where funds were raised in support of various charities. She was preceded in death by her parents, and a brother David Ballard. Sarah will be lovingly remembered by her husband Charles, Sr., of 51 years, three children, Charles Hutton, Jr. (Kim) of Bordentown, NJ, Michelle Bell (Thomas Bell, Esq.) of East Brunswick, NJ, Mark Hutton of Ewing, NJ. Five grandchildren, Marchell Washington, Cayla Hutton, Darien Hutton, Bria Bell, and Amir Bell. She also leaves to mourn eight siblings, Annie Bell Martin (Leon) of Ewing, NJ, Isaac Ballard, Jr. (Susan) of Princeton, NJ, Marguerite Fitzgerald (James) of Ewing, NJ, Abdul Bakr (Roxanne) of Ewing, NJ, Barbara Grayson of West Trenton, NJ, Mumtaz Bakr of Morrisville, PA, Allan Ballard (Sylvia) of Hamilton, NJ, and Ronald Ballard of Ewing, NJ. Two sisters-in-law, Dee Robinson of Greensboro, NC and Billie Hutton of Sicklerville, NJ, one god-daughter, Nina Mapp and a host of nieces, nephews, and other family and friends.
