Theresa Hope Morand

Theresa Hope Reynolds – Morand LIFE LONG NEW BRUNSWICK RESIDENT, 101 Departed this life 11-23-24. She was born August 11, 1923, in New Brunswick NJ. Theresa was born to Eva and Howard Reynolds. Theresa attended Nathan Hale elementary on Commercial Ave in New Brunswick and graduated from New Brunswick High School in 1943 Theresa grew up with her siblings, oldest Brother Howard Jr., older sisters Edith & Doris and her younger brother Calvert As a youngster Theresa enjoyed softball, basketball and swimming. In 1945 Theresa won 1st place in a beauty pageant and also won the swimsuit competition at the Elks Lodge on Baldwin St in New Brunswick. She kept her girlish figure her entire life. Theresa’s first marriage to Leroy Burnstein (of Beaumont Texas) in 1947 produced two children. A son Karl Burnstein (former educator & football coach at New Brunswick HS) and a daughter Sheila Burnstein. Leroy Burnstein predeceased Theresa in 1958. The Lord saw fit that Theresa married Lester Morand September 23, 1967. Lester and Theresa had an everlasting love. Lester, her knight in shining armor, made her feel like a princess. Theresa became a member of First Baptist Church of Lincoln Gardens July 4, 1976. She sang in the Voices of Praise choir and participated in Senior Citizen Tuesdays Theresa’s various employment included Calco Chemical in Bound Brook, Bond’s Clothing in New Brunswick & Carter Wallace in Cranbury New Jersey. Theresa retired from Carter Wallace in 1987. After retirement she chose to work at Lane Bryant as a salesperson in Woodbridge Mall in her spare time until they closed. Theresa is loved by and she loves her New Brunswick community. Theresa was predeceased by her parents Eva and Howard Reynolds, her brother Howard, Jr., her brother Calvert C. Reynolds, Sister Edith Reynolds-Cook, Sister Doris Reynolds-Burrell and son Karl Burnstein She leaves to cherish her memory her loving husband Lester Morand (New Brunswick), Daughter Sheila Burnstein (Warren, NJ), Daughter Michelle Morand, 7 grandchildren Tanisha Burnstein (Texas), Cory Ashford (New Brunswick), Deann, Myra, George Berry (New Brunswick), Eric Ways (New York City) and Arbery Ways (Indiana), 4 great grandchildren Ramon Stephenson (Houston Texas), Morrell Vyair Morand (New Brunswick), Marcellys Tremain Morand (New Brunswick) and Nevach Morand of (New Brunswick) a huge host of nieces, nephews, cousins, great nieces, great nephews, great great nieces, great great nephews, church family, friends and neighborhood Celebration of life service Friday December 20th 10am – 12noon at First Baptist Church of Lincoln Gardens 771 Somerset St, Somerset NJ 08873 Family, Friends and community are invited to attend.
