Angilee Vivian Simmons was born November 20, 1951 in South Carolina to the late David and Dorothy Simmons, Sr. She departed this life on April 3 2021 at Brook Health Care Center, East Orange, NJ. Angie attended school in Charleston, SC. She later relocated to New Brunswick, then Newark and East Orange, NJ. In her apartment building, she was the “Floor Captain” whose duty was to check on tenants and make sure they were okay. During her many hospital stays, she encouraged the nurses, aids and anyone with whom she came in contact, always talking about the Lord, and often said God had her there for a reason. She married Douglas Ray Hatcher June 10, 1995. She joined New Hope Baptist Church, Newark, NJ in 2011. Angilee was preceded in death by her parents, David and Dorothy Simmons, Sr., 3 brothers, Melvin Lawrence, Rufus and Bernard Simmons. Left to cherish her memory, her husband, Douglas Ray Hatcher of East Orange, NJ, one brother, David (Doris) Simmons, Jr, of North Brunswick, NJ, 3 sisters, Delores (Jesse) Brown of Goose, SC, Donna Lee (Sylvester) Walker and Barbara Ann (Cephus) Thornton of Charleston, SC, Sister in-law, Brenda Simmons of New Brunswick, 4 aunts, Elder Valarie Dickerson, Elder Queen Frost, of New Jersey, Elder Edna Mae Clement and Helen Lawrence of South Carolina, a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
