Ethel M. Lewis was born to the late Harry E. Clay and Gertrude M. Clay on June 14, 1937, in Chester, Virginia. She departed this earthly life on January 2, 2022. Ethel M. Lewis received Christ at an early age under the guidance of her parents. Ethel was a member of Centralia First Baptist Church in Virginia. She was educated in Chesterfield public schools and graduated from Carver high school. She met and married Eugene Lewis Sr. in 1955 who preceded her in death in 2016. She lived in Trenton, New Jersey for more than 60 years. She worked as a Press Operator for Royal Engineering, attended Mercer County Community College, and cared for her family. In her leisure she would enjoy cooking, traveling and casinos. In 2020 Ethel relocated to Lynchburg, Virginia as she loved to embark on new adventures. Ethel M. Lewis's pride and joy were her grandchildren, great- grandchildren, and great-great granddaughter. She loved being in their company and creating memory to last a lifetime. She truly understood the importance of family and made it her mission to embrace them with her love. Ethel M. Lewis is preceded in death by her seven brothers, Leroy Clay, David Clay, Edward Clay, Harry Clay, Johnny Clay, Calvin Clay, Howard Clay and sister Juanita Clay. She is survived by her four children, Eugene Lewis Jr, Mike Lewis Sr., Dianne Lewis, and Marvin Lewis (Melanie); 11 grandchildren; 10 great- grandchildren; 1 great - great grandchild; brothers; Joseph Clay, Charles (Sarah) Clay, and a host of relatives and friends to cherish sweet memories of her. Funeral services were held Friday, Jan. 14, 2022, at Anderson Funeral Service, Trenton. Pastor Ethan Evans of Grace Community Church, Trenton, officiated.
