Eula Dora Riddick Powell Finney

October 26, 1923 - December 31, 2021

Eula Dora Riddick Powell Finney was born in Wake County, North Carolina to the late Charlie M. Riddick and Dora Dunn. She was the youngest of five children born to this union: Lillian, Agnes, Charles, and Vinnie all who preceded her in death. After the death of Dora (her mother) her father married Bessie Dozier who had 6 children from her previous marriage 5 of whom preceded Eula in death (Mabel, Ella Mae, Pattie, Kirthmon, and Delores). Charlie M. and Bessie had two sons together: James Riddick (preceded in death) and William Riddick. Eula made her confession of faith at an early age and was baptized at St. Mathew Baptist church in Raleigh, North Carolina. Eula met and married Garland Powell (in the 1940's) and to this union two children were born: Ernestine (preceded in death) and David. Later she married Melvin Finney and they made their home in Lawrenceville, NJ. This union lasted more than 25 years until his death and her retirement from the U.S. Postal Service. It wasn't long after Melvin's death that she moved back to South Bound Brook to be closer to her family. During her lifetime, she remained to her early religious teachings to always find a place to worship. In her later years, she attended Antioch Christian Church New Brunswick, NJ. She continue to attend regularly until she stop driving. She enjoyed independence until age made it difficult for her to live on her own. She entered Complete Care Nursing Home in Bridgewater, NJ until December 31, 2021. Eula made her final journey from earth to heaven. Eula leaves to mourn; a son, David Powell of Seattle, Washington; a brother, William Riddick (Madeline) of San Antonio, TX; a step- sister, Rosabelle Thornton of Raleigh, NC; grandchildren, Felicia and Keith Spivey and Gina Cobb; Sister-in-laws: Minnie Powell of Raleigh, NC, Joyce Cyrpess of Benson, NC, Jessie Powell of Raleigh, NC and Dorothy Powell of Raleigh, NC; and a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins.
