Jo Ann Davis
August 2, 1957 - November 15, 2020
Jo Ann Davis, Hamilton Twp., was born to the late Fairy Bell Davis and the late Henry J. Davis, Sr. She is also the sister of the late Carolyn Davis. She departed this life on the 15th of November at Robert Wood Johnson Hospital in Hamilton, NJ. Jo Ann Graduated from the Hamilton Township School district. She then went on to receive her undergraduate degree in Early Education from the College of New Jersey (TSC) and later received her Master’s Degree in Education from Houston Baptist University. From an early age, Jo Ann was taught and believed in the value of education. She went on to teach in the Trenton Public School District at P. J Hill Elementary, where she taught the 3rd and 5th grades, and later at The Martin Luther King Jr. Elementary where she taught Computer Science. She became a Math Team Leader/Coach and Computer Technology teacher. Throughout her career in the Public School district Jo Ann was a great support to her administrators, helped and mentored many teachers, students, parents and other co-workers and leaves a legacy of kindness and compassion. She retired from the school district after 35 years of dedicated service. Jo Ann also served as a member in the sisterhood of the National Sorority of Phi Delta Kappa, Inc. Pi Chapter where she helped to obtain scholarships for students and supported with planning and organizing many events. Jo Ann was a kind, warm hearted and thoughtful person who was willing to help anyone in need that came across her path. Her former co-workers have described her as an angel who was always providing time and assistance so they could understand the benefits to be derived from their teaching experiences. Shopping was a constant for her. She didn’t have to be in the mood to buy it, she just needed to be out there shopping for it. Jo Ann liked to travel and saw quite a few places on her bucket list. She enjoyed the theater, plays and technology. She was always up to date on the latest tech and systems available, and had to have them all. She also had tremendous love for her family, and friends. She never hesitated to help when family and friends were in need, and often reached out to them to offer her help and support. She loved her nieces and god-niece and strove to always be there to offer guidance. She also loved to give advice with a gently nudging, as she proudly wore her title of “Boss Lady”. As her life began to change due to her health, she grew stronger in her faith. She knew there would be trials and tribulations, but she also knew greater was her reward. She didn’t focus on her condition, rather she spoke of how blessed she had been. Her belief in God was affirmed, looking more to her continued blessings than her sorrows. She wore her daily armor of prayer and faith. She would tell everyone that God said she would be alright. She is. Jo Ann was strong and fought a good fight, as God had handily equipped her for her journey. She will be sorely missed. Jo Ann leaves to mourn her siblings Bette Davis, Hamilton Twp., Henry J. Davis, Jr., Hamilton, NJ and Beverly Bradley (Joey), Burlington Twp., her nieces Olivia and Savannah, her god-niece Memphis, Aunts Cora Belton, Trenton, Hazel Anderson (Herman), Viola Burgess(Will), Willingboro and Mamie Davis, Ewing Twp., a host of other relatives, special friends Patricia Robinson, Geneva Peters (twin), Janice Williams, Marva Baird and Dolores Al Mousah, and a host of other friends.
