On Friday January 21, 2022 Richard Allen Wright Sr.,“Ricky” passed away at the age 69 at the CareOne rehabilitation center in Edison, N.J. Ricky was born to the late Tanner Maceo Wright Jr. and Elizabeth Mary Still- Wright on March 31, 1952 at Camp Kilmer Army base in Edison, N.J. Ricky’s childhood began in Plainfield N.J. attending their public school system and eventually graduating from Piscataway High School in 1970. Shortly after high school he moved to New Brunswick and found employment at Rutgers University as a Cook assistant for 17 years. There he met the love of his life Elizabeth “Betty” Porch. They married in June of 1975, this union produced four children which they raised primarily in New Brunswick. However, The family moved to Havre, MT. for two years until 1984. Later that year Ricky gained employment as a construction worker and became a member of local 177 Laborers Union formerly local 155 for 17 years. A few years after the unbearable loss of his son, “little Ricky” he relocated to Newport News, VA. where he was employed as a custodian at Kings Creek Resort for 15 years. He was a hardworking man who rarely missed a day of work and often took on side jobs. Ultimately, Ricky retired in 2017 and returned home to New Brunswick to be with his daughters and grandchildren. Ricky truly loved his family. He was a devoted son who cherished his mother and admired his father. As a child he was mild mannered and obedient. His siblings were his best friends, always there to lend a helping hand or just hang out with them with endless laughter and mutual Wright humor. He was a good brother. As a father, he loved his children immensely. He adored his daughters and revered his only son. He doted on his grandchildren talking to them about life encouraging them to be the best in all their endeavors. Ricky was fond of his nieces and nephews; they affectionately called him “Slick Rick”. Ricky was an avid sports enthusiast. He enjoyed boxing, playing and watching basketball the most. He loved swimming, mainly in the ocean riding the waves. All in all, To know Ricky is to know that he took pleasure in listening to music, especially 70’s R & B, an ice cold beer, surrounded by those he loved most, is how he spent his past time. Ricky was preceded in death by his late wife Elizabeth Ann Porch-Wright,his only son Richard Allen Wright Jr., his father Tanner M. Wright Jr., and his two brothers; Earl Ronald Wright and Gary Emanuel Wright. Ricky leaves to mourn his three daughters, Nachelle J. Porch, Mandisa A. Wright- Harmon and Kesi L. Wright; his mother Elizabeth M. Still- Wright, Seven granddaughters; Teyana N. Porch, Aileah R. Bell, Kyaira M. Harmon, Jaylynn K. Rodriguez, Kamarah D. Harmon, Naiyah R. Porch, Nevaeh J. Porch, and Three grandsons; Trey Bell, Tanner A. Resto- Wright and Kane Richard Franklin, Two sisters; Brenda J. Wright and Cheryl L. Wright, Six brothers; Tanner M. Wright III, Theodore Wright, Robert “Robbie” Wright, and Tyrone G. Wright, Sixteen nieces and nephews; and a host of grand and great nieces and nephews.
