Valrie Fogler, 61, of North Brunswick, NJ died March 11, 2022. Services will be held Saturday, April 23, 2022 at New Creation of the Apostolic Faith Church, Somerset, NJ. The viewing will begin at 11am, followed by the funeral at 12pm. Pastor Glenford Brown will officiate under the direction of Anderson Funeral Service. Valrie Patricia Fogler Gordon was born on October 24, 1960, to Robert and Ruby Gordon, in the district of Ashley, Clarendon, Jamaica, West Indies. She was the seventh of ten siblings. Valrie was affectionately called Val or Sister Valrie by many. Valrie attended the Chapelton All Age School. After graduating she went to live with her brother and sister-in-law Carlleta in Kingston, Jamaica. After a few years, Valrie returned home to Clarendon. Later she returned to Kingston to launch her own business selling apparels. Valrie travelled to Cayman Islands and Panama City to purchase supplies for her business. She was a trail blazer and an entrepreneur. Valrie was the proud mother of two sons Kamar and Jamie. She decided to immigrate to the United States of America to make a better life for her children. They lived in New York for a year where Valrie worked as a Home health aide. Valrie relocated along with her sons to the suburbs of New Jersey. Valrie worked as nanny with the Weissglass family caring for Alisa and David. She became a friend and a part of their extended family for over twenty years. Valrie was a humanitarian championing many causes to name a few, Feed the Children, Leukemia Association, Cancer Research and The American Heart Disease Association. Her generosity and kindness extended to many, she fed the homeless and many Rutgers students. She was able to accomplish this by her entrepreneurial spirit and a passion for the culinary arts propelling her to operate and manage Cool Runnin’s Restaurant. Many of the Rutgers basketball players soon made her their surrogate mother. Candido Sa, Rutgers star basketball player became Valrie’s son. Valrie was vibrant, hardworking, stubborn, loud, feisty, and loyal. If Valrie took to you, you became her friend. Valrie had a passion for life. Valrie had the love of Jesus in her heart. She was born again and was baptized in The Name of Jesus Christ in 2011. She was received into fellowship and served The Lord fervently and faithfully at The New Creation Apostolic Faith Church. She was an active member of the Pastor’s Aid committee and scholarship fund committee. Valrie was always dependable and extended herself above and beyond the call of duty. Life was not always easy for Valrie but she would not give in and wanted no pity. Valrie put on her game face, smiled and went on to tackle the challenges that presented themselves always giving God thanks for another day, another week, another month, another year. In 2010, Valrie had lots of significant health crises but praise God she overcame with the help of the Lord. She fought on one day at a time and was restored to health. On Monday, October 18th, Valrie suffered a devastating life threatening event that left her hospitalized for many months. On Friday March 11th, she transitioned to Glory to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Valrie will be remembered for the lives that she touched. She was predeceased by her father Robert and three brothers Errol, Fitzroy and Frank Gordon. She leaves to mourn her passing and to cherish her memory her sons Kamar and Jaime, her mother Ruby Gordon, sisters Dorothy Springer, Paulette Gordon, Minnie Gordon and brothers Berris Gordon, Leroy Gordon, Donald Gordon, a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, friends, and loyal customers. Her spirit lives on in the memories of those who knew her.
