Apostle Betsy L. Adams

Apostle Betsy L. Adams, 83, of Columbus, NJ died November 18, 2025. Services will be held Saturday, November 29, 2025, at Tabernacle Baptist Church, 239 George Street, New Brunswick. Overseer Lawrence Adams of Praise Temple, Pennsauken, NJ will officiate. The viewing will begin at 8am, followed by the funeral at 9am. Betsy Lee Gordon was born on July 1, 1942, in Phenix City, Alabama, to the late John D. and Ethel Gordon. From her earliest days, Betsy demonstrated a remarkable spirit, a compassionate heart, and a devotion to faith and family that would define her life. Betsy had a passion for God that would continue throughout her life. She graduated from South Girard High School, in Phenix City, in 1960 before moving to New Jersey, where she met the love of her life, Lawrence E. Adams. They were married on August 9, 1963, and together they raised three wonderful children, building a life filled with love, faith, and devotion to each other. Betsy’s dedication to service and education was evident throughout her life. Throughout her life, Betsy touched many through her work at Middlesex County Hospital (now Robert Wood Johnson Hospital), Bristol Meyers Squibbs, and Franklin State Bank, as well as through her ministry, teaching, and unwavering care for her community. Betsy will always be remembered as a devoted and caring mother whose love knew no bounds. She nurtured her children with patience and compassion, guided them with wisdom and strength, and celebrated their joys as if they were her own. Her steadfast support and gentle spirit created a foundation of love that continues to live on in her family and all who were blessed to know her. As Nana, her love exceeded all bounds for her grandchildren. She always told her grands how they always kept her praying. She helped lead her family to Christ and tried to ensure that they had a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. As parent/grandparent and spiritual advisor she instilled in her family that Jesus is not one of many ways, but HE IS THE ONLY WAY! Betsy was preceded in death by her loving parents; her sisters Isabel Chiles, Alma Johnson, and Rutha Gordon; and her brothers John Gordon Jr., Kenneth Gordon, and Rufus Gordon. She was also preceded in death by one granddaughter Angel and great-granddaughter Khaleesi. She leaves behind a lasting legacy of love and faith in her beloved husband of 63 years, Lawrence E. Sr.; her devoted children, Lawrence Jr. (Angela), Laurie (Malcolm), and Shawnette; her cherished 13 grandchildren, and her 12 treasured great-grandchildren. Betsy also leaves her loving sisters Annie, Essie, Linda, Ethel, and Juanita, as well as a host of bonus children, bonus grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends who were blessed to know her warmth, wisdom, and love.
