Betty Ann Moore-Baytops

Betty Ann Moore-Baytops was born on July 10, 1964, in New Brunswick, NJ. She is the youngest of four sisters born to the late Reverend Henry James Moore and Mertice Elizabeth Watkins. She departed this life on August 8, 2024, at Robert Wood Johnson, New Brunswick. Betty graduated from South River High School in 1982. She later attended Lincoln Technical Institute as well as Kean College to pursue a degree in Liberal Arts. While attending Kean College she was involved in the Black Student Union. She took her artistic skills to Deck the Walls, a framing company at Bridgewater Mall where she worked for a few years. While working at Bridgewater Mall she met her late husband Russell T. Baytops who she later married on November 13, 2010. To this union was born their beautiful daughter Tayauna Moore-Baytops. She later established herself at UPS as a full-time overnight package handler for 20 years. She retired from UPS in 2020 and enjoyed her retirement to the fullest from various vacations, beach trips, spa days, and so much more. Betty loved to have fun and be anywhere near water. Betty was known for her knowledge and wisdom, her creative eye, and always being a light that brightened up any room she walked into. She had a passion for helping kids which showed with her huge involvement in her daughter’s time in school and Girl Scouts. She also spent time volunteering at Winning Wednesday and the lunch program at St. Paul Baptist Church in Somerville. In her later years she became very knowledgeable about her health and wellness and made it her priority to stay active and put good foods and herbs into her body. She spent a lot of her free time educating others on how to be the best version of themselves and the importance of living a happy, healthy life. Betty was a loving, sweet, compassionate, mother, godmother, wife, aunt, sister, cousin and friend and made an impact on so many lives. Betty always kept it real and would always tell you like it is, “what you see is what you get”. Betty was always looking to see how to help someone even when she needed help herself. She was self-less and giving and would give her shirt off her back to anyone. She was preceded in death by her husband Russell T. Baytops and sister Johndel Moore-Baytops. She leaves to cherish her memory of her daughter, Tayauna Moore-Baytops of South River NJ, her Goddaughter Brianna Hall of Piscataway NJ, two sisters Evelyn Welch of South River NJ and Mertice Evans (Lawrence Evans) of Morganville NJ and a host of cousins, nieces, nephews, family and friends. In her last days Betty was surrounded with love by not only her daughter, sisters and brother-in-law but by many people including but not limited to, her nieces, Tatum Evans, Dametria Moore, Jenyce Baytops, and her best friend, Kimberly Hall. Betty will truly never be forgotten. She was a fighter and warrior and lived an incredible life. Her spirit will live on inside us all.
