Eugene Antonio Francis

Eugene Antonio Francis, known as “Speng”, was born on December 24, 1991 in Kingston, Jamaica to parents Althea Dennis and Augustus Francis. Eugene attended the Kensington Basic & Primary School located in Portmore, St. Catherine, where he excelled in his studies. He was awarded with the opportunity to attend the prestigious Calabar High School in Kingston, Jamaica. Upon graduating from Calabar High School, Eugene went on to attend Portmore Community College. In July 2010, Eugene emigrated from Jamaica to the United States. He began working at “Five Guys”, and was known as a dedicated and invaluable team member. Eager to learn and a swift thinker, Eugene excelled and was promoted to a management position. Eugene developed into a respectful, well rounded, well groomed, mature young man who was incredibly outspoken. He stood up for what he believed and had a great love for his family. Eugene enjoyed a special bond with his parents and spoke very highly of them. He was very close to his three sisters and two brothers. A charismatic personality, coupled with a contagious smile put people at ease, gravitating towards him. On your worst day, Eugene could make you forget your troubles. He was a caring and encouraging person with a “big heart,” always extending himself to make sure everyone was okay. Eugene was an ambitious young man who expressed great plans for his future. Always the optimist, Eugene viewed the glass as being “half full rather than half empty.” Growing up, he explored different business ventures and thought about “the next big thing.” One of his dreams was to open his own “Jamaica Burger Restaurant.” He seemed to know a little about everything, whether it was repairing a car or “cheffing” up a tasty dish in the kitchen. He and his dad competed as to who could cook a better meal. He enjoyed life to the fullest. “Speng” as he was fondly known, was loved by all who had met him. He may have left us, but his spirit will live in our hearts forever. We love you and miss you dearly, rest now in the arms of the Lord . . . . . . . until we meet again. Eugene leaves to cherish his memory, his Mother, Althea Dennis; Father, Augustus Francis; Stepmother, Annette Francis; Sisters: Feyona Wright, Cathy-Ann Francis and Latoya Francis; Brothers: Gary Francis & Romario Francis; along with Aunts, Uncles, Cousins, and many friends.
