Gabriel Bafor Wolo

Gabriel Bafor Wolo, Sr., 78, affectionately known as "Shining Bill" and "Uncle Bafor" by family and friends, was born on October 18, 1947, in Grand Cess, Grand Kru County, Liberia, to the late Getee Welleh Sneh and Nimely Pannie. On Wednesday, April 22, 2026, Gabriel peacefully departed this life at Capital Health Regional Medical Center in Trenton, New Jersey, surrounded by the love and prayers of family and friends. While his passing leaves a tremendous void in the hearts of those who knew him, his legacy of kindness, service, faith, and love will live on for generations to come. Gabriel was a proud graduate and a dedicated employee of the National Port Authority of Liberia, where he faithfully served for twenty-five years, from 1970 to 1995. During his tenure, he worked as a Supervisor in the Dock Office, earning the respect of colleagues and community members through his professionalism, integrity, and strong work ethic. Following a distinguished career, he retired from public service in 1996. A man of deep faith, Gabriel was baptized and confirmed in the Catholic Church. He remained a devoted Catholic throughout his life and was a lifelong member of the Knights of St. John International. His faith guided his actions and inspired his commitment to serving others with compassion and humility. In pursuit of new opportunities and to be closer to family, Gabriel immigrated to the United States of America on July 9, 2000, where he resided until his passing. Gabriel was known for his friendly nature, straightforward character, and generous spirit. He was a loving and caring husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend. His love extended far beyond his biological children; he embraced and supported countless family members, friends, and children in his community. He was always willing to lend a helping hand, offer wise counsel, or provide encouragement to those in need. His warmth, humor, and unwavering support touched many lives. Gabriel leaves to cherish his memory his wife, Christiana D. Wolo; his children, Josephine Wolo Wah, Beatrice Wolo Nagbe, and Aljerome Suduehba Wolo; seven grandchildren; one great-grandchild; his surviving sister, Pannie Nyansee; along with numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends residing in Liberia, the United States, and around the world. He was preceded in death by his beloved sons, Gabriel Baforba Wolo, Jr., James Sudueh Wolo, and Patrick Sneh Wolo; as well as his parents, Getee Welleh Sneh and Nimely Pannie. Though Gabriel has departed from our sight, he will never be forgotten. His legacy of faith, love, dedication, and service will continue to inspire all who were blessed to know him. His memory will forever remain in our hearts. "Gone from our sight, but never from our hearts." Services were held at Sacred Heart Parrish, 343 S. Broad Street, Trenton, NJ on June 6, 2026.
