Lillian Wilkins

Lillian Wilkins was born February 18, 1936 in Trenton, NJ from the union of the late James and Earbell McKenzie. She departed this life, Saturday, February 19, 2022 at home peacefully. Lillian Wilkins later married the late Vick Wilkins on September 30, 1955. Their union created 6 beautiful children. Lillian and Vick Wilkins were married for 43 years before she became a widow on October 4, 1998. Lillian was a lifelong resident of Trenton, NJ and was educated in the Trenton Public School System. Lillian worked at Mercer Hospital, Young’s Rubber Luggage and Switlik Parachute. She later retired from Chauncey Hotel & Conference in Princeton, NJ. Lillian was easy to talk to and always provided spiritual guidance to her family. Lillian especially was devoted to her best-friend, her mother, the late Mother Earbell McKenzie. Lillian was active and enjoyed going to the movies, shopping at Boscovs, attending stage plays and gospel concerts. Lillian never missed an episode of her favorite soap operas, Hallmark and Western movies. Lillian enjoyed listening to gospel music and preaching on her radio, which she kept on throughout the day. Lillian attended church at Holy Cross Church on Sundays. Her family knew not to contact her between 7pm-7:30pm because she was reading her bible. Lillian favorite chapter was Psalm 27, Verses 1-14. During the last few years, Lillian did not wish to leave her home. Her family completed her daily errands. She was extremely loved. Lillian favorite phrase was “I’m doing” when asked how she was; she never complained. Lillian is predeceased by her husband, Vick Wilkins; son, Jason Wilkins; parents, Earbell and James McKenzie; brothers, Elza Thomas and Abbie McKenzie; sisters, Vera Strauss, Gladys Holmes, Mary McDonald and Earbelle Crumbley. She leaves to cherish loving memories, daughters, Katrina Wilkins and Charlene Wilkins; sons, Darvin Wilkins, Brian Wilkins (Kim), Sidney Wilkins (Judy); brother, Charles McKenzie; sister, Elizabeth Pue; 21 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren and hosts of nieces, nephews and cousins. Lillian cherishes her special grand-daughter, LaShonna McRae.
