Pamela Annette Vail

Pam's Life Journey Pamela Annette Vail was born January 14, 1960 in New Bern, North Carolina and transitioned into her heavenly life on Friday, August 30, 2013. She was the youngest child of William and Lillie Vail. In her early years, Pam attended church and was a member of Clinton Chapel A.M.E.Z. Church where she was an active member of youth groups and the Wesleyan youth choir. For her early education, she attended schools in New Bern where she was an excellent student and a devoted friend. She was known for her warm and winning smile. Pam graduated from New Bern High School in 1978. Following high school, Pam attended Elizabeth City State University (ECSU) where she majored in Social Work and also where she became a proud member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Incorporated. After obtaining her bachelor's degree from ECSU in 1982, she moved to New Jersey where in 1985, she received her Master of Social Work (MSW) degree from Rutgers University, New Brunswick NJ. Pam's career as a social worker began at Somerset Hills Regional School. Working in this residential facility allowed her to further pursue her calling of helping troubled youth. Pam was known for managing her caseload, inspiring students by making them proud of who they were and maintaining their connection to their families. She was a member of the Big Brothers/Big Sisters organization. It was here that she touched the lives of so many children. In the late 1980's Pam moved her membership to The Cathedral International in Perth Amboy, NJ under the ministry of Bishop Donald Hilliard, Jr. Her work extended beyond her paid career to her volunteer work with youth at her church where she and her daughters were members. Pam is preceded in death by her parents, William A. Vail and Lillie B. Vail and her sister – Janice V. Thorne (Gamaliel). She leaves behind her daughters – Tynia Hennix-Armstrong (Chris) and Ayanna Hennix-Vail, her grandchildren – Isaiah, Omari, Diamond, Adryan and Devin, her sisters – Barbara V. Kaigler, Lillie V. Bell (Charles), Saundra V. Bass and her brothers – William A. Vail, Jr., Richard L. Vail, Seth D. Vail (Doreen), Alton E. Vail(Annette) and Michael R. Vail (Beverly) and many loved ones including uncles, aunts, cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends.
