Thomasina Bush

Thomasina Guinyard-Bush, affectionately known as Tommie, who departed this life peacefully on November 3, 2024, at the age of 61 in New Brunswick, NJ. Born on September 24, 1963, in the Bronx, NY, she was the cherished daughter of the late Richard and Mary Guinyard Sr. At the age of three, Tommie and her family moved to New Brunswick, NJ, where she embraced her education within the New Brunswick public school system. A proud graduate of New Brunswick High School, Class of 1982, Tommie was an active student who excelled in softball and volleyball, showcasing her spirited dedication to teamwork and competition. Over the years, Tommie held various positions at respected companies, including Mattel, NJ Bell, and UPS, but she found her true calling during a remarkable 37-year career at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital, where she was recently promoted to Patient Access Supervisor. Her commitment to her work and her caring nature left a lasting impact on colleagues and patients alike. In 1986, Tommie welcomed her cherished daughter, Nafeesa Jones, into the world, a bond she held dear. In 1991, she found love with Orlando Bush, a partnership that brought immense joy and led to the birth of her son, Nygel Bush, in 1995. Tommie and Orlando married on July 6, 2002, solidifying their commitment to one another. She embodied love and devotion, dedicating herself to her family and friends. Tommie treasured every moment spent at family gatherings, fish fries, playing the lottery, and dancing. Her spirit radiated brightly during worship at her church, where she offered heartfelt praise to God. Thomasina “Tommie” was predeceased by her husband Orlando Bush, parents Richard and Mary Elizabeth Guinyard Sr., Her grandparents Mack and Janie Bell Charlton, one brother Marvin Charlton, one sister Mary Frances Lovett, one nephew Shannon Guinyard. Here to cherish her memory are her children Nafeesa (William) Jones and Nygel Bush, grandchildren Ge’yonna Stephenson, Nylah Thompson, Aaliyah Jones, Faith Jones, Mya Jones, her siblings Roslyn Guinyard-Deloatch, Richard (Alicia) Guinyard Jr., Derrick Guinyard and Verna Cooper (God sister) and a host of nieces, nephews, godchildren, family and close friends.
